1. Policy Overview
247 Bet Limited (“the Company”) is firmly committed to promoting a safe, transparent, and responsible gaming environment for all its customers. This Responsible Gaming Policy (“Policy”) establishes the framework through which the Company seeks to prevent, identify, and mitigate gambling related harm while ensuring that all gaming activities remain fair and controlled.
The Company recognises that gambling is widely enjoyed as a form of entertainment. It also acknowledges that, for a minority of individuals, gambling may lead to adverse financial, emotional, or social consequences. In light of this, the Company adopts a proactive and structured approach to responsible gaming, ensuring that appropriate safeguards, tools, and interventions are in place to protect users and the wider community.
For the purpose of this Policy, a “responsible gaming” refers to the practice of gambling in a way that minimizes the potential negative effects that gambling can have on individuals and society. This includes recognizing and managing the risks associated with gambling, as well as promoting safe and healthy gambling practices.
2. Purpose
The purpose of this Policy is to establish a comprehensive and transparent framework that governs how the Company promotes responsible gaming and protects its customers. It is designed to ensure that customers are provided with the necessary tools, information, and support to make informed decisions about their gambling behaviour.
This Policy seeks to safeguard vulnerable individuals, including minors and those at risk of developing gambling related problems, by implementing preventative controls and intervention mechanisms. It also ensures that the Company operates in full compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, while continuously improving its practices through monitoring, evaluation, and feedback.
This Policy aims to build trust and confidence in the Company’s services by demonstrating a strong commitment to player protection and ethical gaming practices.
3. Scope of the Policy
This Policy applies to all customers who access or use the Company’s gaming and betting services, as well as all employees, affiliates and agents of the Company. It covers all aspects of gaming activities, including account registration, deposits, wagering, withdrawals, and customer interactions.
All employees, affiliates and agents of the Company, are required to understand and adhere to the provisions of this Policy in the course of their duties, ensuring that responsible gaming principles are consistently applied across all levels of the organisation.
4. Our Commitment to Responsible Gaming
The Company places player welfare at the core of its operations and is committed to fostering a culture of responsible gaming. This commitment is reflected in the implementation of robust systems designed to protect customers, particularly those who may be vulnerable to gambling-related harm.
The Company actively promotes responsible gaming by providing customers with clear information about the risks associated with gambling and encouraging them to maintain control over their gaming behaviour. In all circumstances, the Company prioritises player safety over commercial considerations, ensuring that its operations are conducted in a socially responsible and ethical manner.
5. Regulatory Framework
This Policy is developed in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements governing gaming activities in Lagos State.
6. Age Restriction and Protection of Minors
The Company strictly prohibits underage gambling and enforces a minimum age requirement of eighteen (18) years for all users. Access to the Company’s services is restricted to individuals who meet this legal age requirement.
To enforce this rule, the Company implements comprehensive identity verification procedures, commonly referred to as Know Your Customer (“KYC”) checks. Customers are required to provide valid identification before they can deposit funds, place bets, or withdraw winnings. Where a customer fails to complete the verification process, the Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate the account and withhold any associated funds pending verification.
The Company also takes proactive steps to prevent minors from accessing its services, including monitoring account activity and prohibiting the sharing of account credentials. Any account found to be associated with under age gambling will be immediately closed.
7. Responsible Gaming Tools
To support customers in managing their gambling behaviour, the Company provides a range of responsible gaming tools that enable users to control their spending, time, and overall engagement with gaming activities.
Customers may set deposit limits to restrict the amount of money they can fund into their accounts over specified periods. Customers may also choose to take a break from gaming through cooling-off periods or opt for longer-term self-exclusion where necessary. These tools are designed to empower customers to make informed and controlled decisions about their gambling behaviour.
8. Monitoring, Risk Identification, and Intervention
The Company adopts a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential gambling-related harm by continuously monitoring customer activity. This includes analysing behavioural patterns such as increased betting frequency, prolonged gaming sessions, and attempts to recover losses.
Where indicators of risk are identified, the Company may initiate appropriate interventions. These interventions are applied in a structured and proportionate manner, ranging from providing educational messages and guidance to imposing mandatory limits or restricting account access in more serious cases.
All interactions with customers are conducted in a respectful, confidential, and supportive manner, with the aim of encouraging responsible behaviour and preventing escalation.
9. Cooling-Off and Self-Exclusion
The Company recognises that customers may, at times, require a break from gambling in order to regain control over their behaviour. To support this, the Company offers both short-term and long-term account restriction options.
Cooling-off periods allow customers to temporarily suspend their gaming activity for a defined duration, during which they will be unable to deposit funds or place bets. For customers requiring more significant intervention, self-exclusion provides a longer-term solution, effectively blocking access to the account for a specified period.
During self-exclusion, customers will not receive marketing communications, and the account cannot be reactivated until the exclusion period has expired. The Company also takes reasonable steps to prevent users from circumventing these restrictions by creating new accounts.
10. Recognition of Gambling-Related Harm
The Company encourages customers to remain aware of their gambling behaviour and to recognise early warning signs of potential harm. Such signs may include spending more money or time than intended, attempting to recover losses through continued gambling, experiencing emotional distress linked to gaming, or neglecting personal and professional responsibilities.
Customers who identify with these behaviours are strongly encouraged to take immediate action, including setting stricter limits, taking a break from gaming, or seeking professional support.
11. Support and Assistance
While the Company does not provide clinical or therapeutic services, it recognises the importance of professional support in addressing gambling-related harm.
Customers experiencing difficulties are encouraged to seek assistance from qualified professionals and recognised support organisations that specialise in addiction and behavioural health.
12. Marketing and Communication Safeguards
The Company ensures that all marketing and promotional activities are conducted in a socially responsible manner. Advertising content is carefully designed to avoid targeting minors or vulnerable individuals and does not present gambling as a means of achieving financial success or solving personal problems.
All promotional materials are transparent, clearly stating the terms and conditions associated with any offers. The Company also reserves the right to restrict marketing communications from customers who exhibit signs of at-risk behaviour.
13. Data Protection and Privacy Compliance
The Company shall ensure that all personal data processed in the course of handling complaints is managed in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (“NDPA”) and applicable guidelines issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. The Company shall implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. Access to gaming-related data shall be strictly limited to authorised personnel. The Company shall respect and uphold customers’ data rights, including the rights to access, rectification, and erasure of personal data, where applicable.
